Waitt's Mount Cleanup
Councillor Ryan O'Malley is partnering with the Great Malden Outdoors to clean up Waitt's Mount in Malden, MA. Come out and meet your neighbors and enjoy the amazing view atop the Mount!
The DPW will be providing trash bags and a limited number of equipment/tools. Please bring your own gloves if you have them!
Date: Saturday, April 5, 2025 (rain or shine)
Time: 10AM - 12PM
Location: 75 Leonard Street, Malden MA
Parking available on Leonard Street. Walking distance from Oak Grove Orange MBTA
After the cleanup, Idle Hands will be hosting a party and donating $1 per pour to The Great Malden Outdoors.


Melrose Beer & Bites
Melrose BEER + BITES is a fun local craft brew tasting fundraiser, at which guests can enjoy 2 oz. pours of a unique assortment of local craft beer and a few alternate drinks, as well as tasty appetizer "bites" from area food and retail partners. For added enjoyment, this year's tasting will include cider, organic wine, and non-alcoholic drinks as well. The tasting will take place on April 5, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
We will have an amazing lineup of brewers and food vendors again this year, including Arlington Brewing Company, BearMoose Brewing Company, Bent Water Brewing Company, Dirigible Brewing Company, Evviva Trattoria, Granite Coast Brewing Company, 110 Grill, Hannah's Brewing Co., Harpoon Brewery, Jack's Abby Craft Lagers, Kettle Cuisine, La Frontera Sabrosa, La Qchara/T'ahpas 529, Lord Hobo Brewing Co, Night Shift, Spyglass Brewing Company, Stormalong Cider, Twisted Fate Brewing, and Wormtown! Yum!

Grainbakers Bread Making Class
At the end of the Brewer's day, we will use the brewery's fresh, spent grain and work it into a beautiful artisan bread.
Guests will make the Grainbakers Spent Grain Artisan Bread Dough. Once created, you can customize your bread by adding various flavors from our spice selection. This class will have many selections, including:
UBE Purple Sweet Potato
Cinnamon Raisin
Rosemary & Sea Salt
Dark Chocolate & Cherry
White Chocolate & Rose
Cheddar, Jalapeño & Bacon
Honey, I love you, Whole Wheat
BYO Inclusions - We don't mind at all! (Frozen fruit, Frozen fancy cheese etc.)
Class includes:
A bread-and-butter sampling
Lecture and hands-on instruction to make artisan spent grain baked bread
Recipe and instruction guide.
Super fun mixing session to make your dough
One bread in it's first rise, ready to bake at home
Extra spent grain for your freezer and recipes to make more bread

You will bake your bread at home.
Participants must be 18 to participate and must have a ticket.
Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
You are WELCOME to invite a friend to wait for you while you’re in class. You can have dinner together before class, and then they can doomscroll some social media over a pint while in class.

Malden River Cleanup
We are partnering with Friends of The Malden River for a Malden River and neighborhood cleanup on Sunday, March 23rd.
With the snow melting we are seeing the trash the winter has left behind. Join us in cleaning up the banks of the Malden River and the surrounding neighborhood.
Meet at Idle Hands by 10am and we will go over some brief instructions and then head out to pick up trash.
New for this event! Cafe Reynard will be serving coffee and pastries starting at 8am in the Taproom. Head in early and have your coffee and breakfast in the Taproom. This will be a great new chance to meet the team behind Idle Hands in house coffee roaster and cafe.
After the cleanup, we will head back to the Taproom where we will treat all volunteers 21+ to a half pour of beer!
Registration is recommended but not required and is open to all ages. You must be 21+ to enjoy beer in the Taproom after the cleanup. Please bring your own water bottle. If you have work gloves bring them but we will also supply them. It is recommended that you wear sturdy boots, long pants, and long sleeves.
Cleanup will last approximately 2 hours. The thank you party will begin at noon in the Taproom.

Join us for a fun and creative coaster painting workshop where you’ll unleash your artistic potential! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to sketch and paint your own unique set of coasters with guidance from the talented artist, Bhagyashree. Whether you’re looking to paint freely or get inspiration from prompts, Bhagyashree will be there to help you every step of the way using acrylic paints and markers. Not only will you walk away with your very own set of painted coasters, but Bhagyashree will also share valuable aftercare tips to keep your artwork looking great for years to come. No experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and creativity!

Join Naomi Kahn in a workshop exploring the use of leaves, evergreens, grasses and wood to create beautiful and textural wall art and greeting cards. You will learn how to blend these organic materials with acrylic paints and watercolors to make one-of-a-kind, nature-inspired designs. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a beginner, this workshop is for everyone. Discover how nature can inspire your creativity and transform simple elements into beautiful works of art. Materials included, but feel free to bring your own leaves and natural inspirations.
